New Years Eve 2012 .... bring on 2013!!

I cannot believe another year has flown and here we are on New Years Eve with 2012 coming to a close.  As I look back on the year it has been eventful and creative and filled with lots of good times and   a few not so good times!   I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and pray that 2013 will find you with good health and much happiness and may it offer you many hours of creativity .....  Just taking a look back over 2012 ....

In January I celebrated 3 years of blogging with a giveaway ....

And finished this gorgeous little sewing bag from Anni Downs book "Some Kind of Wonderful" ... don't you just love Anni's designs??

And we welcomed a new member into our family .... Nala

In February I stitched a few shoe bags ...

In March I joined with Sylvia for our "Stitching on the Lake" Days in Canberra .... we have been stitching together for over 30 years and it is always lovely to get together for these wonderful Stitching Days !!

In April I finished off Lynette Anderson's sewing bag for Sylvia for her birthday !

And was well underway with my stitchery for "Fernhill" by Lynette Anderson ...

In May, it was Chelsea's birthday and I finished off this batik quilt for her birthday ....

In June this little sewing pocket came into being ....

In July I had nearly finished "My Favourite Things" quilt by Anni Downs .... I so enjoyed making this quilt and putting it together as part of Chookyblue's Stitch A Long group ...

And I finished off this challenging little English cottage in canvas work ....

In August, Sylvia and I held our first weekend retreat at "Stitching in the Hills" in Murrumbateman just north of Canberra .... we had such a lovely weekend stitching with all the ladies!!

And I had a most enjoyable visit to Lynette Anderson's Little Quilt Shop  .... and had a lovely chat with Lynette (and shopped of course!!)

In September I finished off a couple of my projects from "Urban Stitches" in Melbourne ... I love this little sewing bag ...

And loved making this little red pincushion from "Red Home" ....

In October our Needlework Group had a "Pink Girls Night In" and "Pink Girls Morning Tea In" for breast cancer research and we made these lovely little pink hangings from a Rosalie Quinlan design ..

And the ladies all dressed in pink ...

And I stitched some little sewing pouches with appliqué baskets ....

In November I finished off yet another canvas work project for our next "Stitching on the Lake" Days ..

And stitched a cute little biscornu in counted thread ....

And on 1st December we celebrated the wedding of our eldest daughter Ashleigh to her gorgeous Tim ...

It was an amazing day .... full of love

And we celebrated Christmas and finally all got together 2 days later for a family photo with our new son-in-law and brother-in-law Tim (centre) ...

And as the year draws to a close I would like to thank you for all your lovely comments throughout the year and for being the lovely caring group of ladies I have come to know.   I have enjoyed being part of some amazing swaps and groups and have achieved lots more sewing through being kept accountable as part of a group stitch a long!   I have enjoyed getting to know lots of you and have even managed some get togethers with other bloggers which has been great!  Sometimes in the "busyness" of life we don't take time to stop and smell the roses and my creative side is my de-stress outlet and one of my great enjoyments away from my office life!     And so my prayer for 2013 is that we will all find peace and contentment in all things in 2013 ....  Happy New Year .... may 2013 be full of creativity and good times for us all! xxxx

The prawns are delicious and we are still using candles from Ash and Tim's wedding ...

Just before heading out to lunch today at the Merry Street Cafe .... Kye, Chelsea, Sam, Ash, Tim, Elliott and David (with Nala hiding behind)

And another family photo with me in it this time .... just before two of the children head off tomorrow .. a little stitching has been done .... just have to press it and take some photos !!

Tim and I swapped seats for this photo ....

We also had more gifts ... and we bought Elliott a ukelele from Hawaii and some t-shirts for the boys so here are the boys from my family trying to hold a tune this morning ....   it's lovely to have them all home ...

Merry Christmas 2012

Unfortunately we had a blackout for 7 hours on Christmas Eve and I didn't get to post a "Merry Christmas" to all!!!   So I do hope your Christmas Day was a wonderful celebration with family and friends!   Our morning was great but the afternoon deteriorated when my father in law (aged 91) had a turn and had to take a trip to hospital via ambulance.   Not quite the day we had planned, but he is home now and feeling better .... this is earlier in the day .... Dadeda with Chelsea and Ashleigh!

We had a lovely day and the man of the house was given a stand up paddle board to play on .... here he is with son-in-law Tim, Ash and Chelsea ...

We enjoyed a lovely morning ....

Nala was a bit sad when all the presents had disappeared from under the Christmas Tree !!

I received a beautiful patchwork and appliqué table runner from Siri as part of Chookyblue's Secret Santa Christmas Swap which is just gorgeous - thank you Siri!!

A close up of the perfect appliqué work .... and lovely colours of the fabrics ....

And so from my family (me, Elliott, Chelsea, Ashleigh, Sam and David to yours ....

I hope your day was merry and bright and hope you had or are having a .... Merry Christmas .... (thank you again Meredith for this gorgeous stitchery) ....

Christmas Angel Swap 2012

After a very hectic week at work and no time to blog, it was so special to receive an  amazing parcel of gifts from Meredith (no blog) my swap partner in the Christmas Angel Swap organised by Karen from Mrs Martins Quilt Shop!     I have been incredibly spoilt and very blessed by Meredith's generosity and workmanship ....   thank you so much Meredith!    I opened the box to find all these beautifully wrapped gifts ....

There were some categories to fill .... a christmas decoration, a santa sack, something sewing, something sweet ..... you get the idea?   Here is my beautiful Christmas decoration!

Something sewing was in this lovely Christmas tin with some tiny Christmas fabrics and DMC threads .... my most used christmas colours!!   How did she know???

My little santa sack!

Mmmmmmm .... delicious !!

A small wall hanging ....

The cutest label on the back of the wallhanging ...

Some lovely little mother of pearl Christmas decorations were tucked into my Santa sack!

I think this was "something sewing" too ... one of Meredith's own designs ...

A stitched Christmas postcard ....

A Christmas gift tag ....

A very cute candle mat ...

A small framed stitched picture .... Meredith has done her homework very well and managed to stitch an absolutely gorgeous stitchery of our dog Nala in a Christmas hat!  So clever ...

Isn't this just the most gorgeous picture?

And when I put them all out together, I feel incredibly blessed to have received such gorgeous gifts ... thank you so much again Meredith ... you leave me lost for words!       I hope you enjoyed your parcels I sent to you ... Unfortunately I didn't take photos before I sent them because I was in a bit of a hurry too!!    And thank you to Karen for organising such a delightful swap! xxx
