Needlework Ladies

I have been out of action with the flu for a few days which is just a bit of a nuisance .... no stitching time at all!!   But I want to thank everyone for their lovely comments and enquiries about my ETSY store opening ... I am touched by your comments and very pleased that some have ordered too!!   Last week at Needlework there were lots of lovely finished quilts on display .... Shirley F has made this lovely redwork quilt ....

A close up of one of the designs ....

Jo finished this lovely version of the Redwork Tote Bag ....

Bev and Francis enjoyed a sashiko quilt class at Berry last year and have finally finished their quilts ... here is Bev with hers ...

And a close up of the detail of one of the blocks ...

And here is Frances with hers ....

And a close up of one of her blocks ....

Jenny had finished her Robyn Alexander necklace from the Cruise ... just gorgeous!

And Sue had finished off this colourwash quilt with three dimensional leaves (which you can't really see from my photography) ... beautiful Sue!

And I thought I would share two t-shirt designs with you ... the first is a t-shirt my husband had made for me to wear on the stitching cruise !!!   He thought it was funny!!

And my new son in law designs for O'Neill surfwear and I was pleasantly surprised to see him wearing this new t-shirt designed by him with rows of stitching on it !!  I knew it would rub off on him one day!!

Some more Needlework Cruise photos !

This lovely embroidered bag, name tag and hanky were given to us as we registered on Day 1 of the Needlework Cruise ....

Our first class with Robyn Alexander ... and here is Sylvia (and Jane looking the other way) with Jenny and Margaret in the background ...

This was where our classes were held ... look at the gorgeous view out the floor to ceiling windows ...

We docked in Noumea and ended up staying 2 days because of mechanical issues .... this photo was taken from the town and shows the enormous ship in the distance at the dock ....

After classes in the afternoon we of course sat and enjoyed a quiet stitch ... here is Sylvia, Sue and Jan spending some quality stitching time .... with another gorgeous view out the window!

On our last night, we enjoyed a presentation, some show and tell, and meeting all the tutors ....

And our dining table each night ... with some old and some new friends in stitching ....  Sylvia, me, Robyn, Jenny, Carolyn, Margaret, Jenny, Jenny, Mavis and Susanne .... three Jennys at one table is confusing!!   Lovely to spend time with you all!!   We certainly had some laughs!!

Sylvia, me, Robyn and Jenny on our last night ...

And as I left the ship on Tuesday morning I turned around and took this photo ....  this is the reason why it doesn't fit under the Sydney Harbour Bridge !!

Back home ....

Finally back home after cruising on the "Voyager of the Seas" for 8 days on a needlework cruise organised by Needlework Tours from Melbourne.   Joined by a few friends from up and down the coast from various embroidery and patchwork groups, we enjoyed a great time of stitching and friendship and way too much eating!!   Here I am on deck and just about to leave with the amazing Sydney Harbour Bridge behind me ... and yes it was windy!!

Our first two day class was with Robyn Alexander from Colourstreams ... Robyn was so delightful and her project was beautiful .... here is what we worked on  .... look at the beautiful threads and silk ribbons in the kit!  Robyn dyes all her own felt, silk ribbons and threads and they are all absolutely divine!!

Robyn and I ..... I was pleased to see she is a bit of an orange person too!!

My progress on my Heart Felt Chatelaine .... nearly there ....

Look at the beautiful colours in these hand dyed threads by Colourstreams .... delicious!!

Our second class was with Yvette Stanton and we did Portuguese White Work .... and I'm happy to report that I finished this gorgeous bookmark project in the one day class ... although it was a little bit hard to work on the 38 count linen for my little old eyes!!!  Here is my bookmark resting in Yvette's book!

Our third class was with Gary Clarke and we did a small Turkish Delight piece.  This was tiny tiny stitching with one thread and using a tiny tiny quilting needle for stitching ... very interesting and thoroughly enjoyable ... not quite finished this one yet though ...  this was Gary's sample ...

And this is my work in progress ...

And here is Gary with Sylvia and I .... he is an amazingly talented embroiderer and is soon off to the United States for a whirlwind teaching tour for seven weeks!   Lucky him!!

More photos to come .....

Needlework Resumes & "Red Home" Quilt Finished!!!

It was lovely to go back to Needlework last night after 2 months break!   We finished off for the year just a couple of days before the wedding on 1 December, which seems such a long time ago now!   It's always fun to catch up with everyone and see what they have been doing over the holidays ....  and I was happy to show my "Red Home" quilt all finished off, bound and labelled .....

Chris had finished off her homework over the Christmas break ... lots of different house and garden designs will be sewn into a raffle quilt this year !

And Maree had made this gorgeous bright and colourful bag from a pattern she had purchased at "My Patch" at Milton .... lovely shop if you happen to be passing by !!

Sewing for Bushfire Victims

I am part of an amazing and caring online stitching group who are packaging up sewing bags filled with stitching goodies for the bushfire victims in Tasmania .... this is my little bundle which was posted off last week .... with a little surprise treat tucked into the bag!!

As the binding is taking a long long time to sew around my "Red Home" quilt, I thought I would rest it on the chair for a bit and show you an applique tea towel I have made (red again)!!   And you can see the back of my quilt with the gorgeous quilting by Jenny!!    I'm having a bit of a lazy Sunday after a big night of dancing at a good friend's 50th birthday party last night!!
