Stitching on the Lake and "frankie" ....

Sylvia and I had a great time organising the first of our Stitching on the Lake days which was held in Canberra on Saturday .... it was such fun and we get to do it all again next Saturday !!!    Here are our projects for the day and some of the lovely lucky door prizes which were on offer !

The room is all set up on Friday evening and ready for the Saturday morning rush !

Again we were blessed by the ladies from Hobbysew at Belconnen - Najelle and Terrie - who bought along some beautiful bits and pieces for us to buy including this lovely range of goodies designed by Lynette Anderson!

The yummy food created by Lynne was to die for .... here is a little glimpse because we don't want to spoil it for the ladies coming this Saturday !

Lots of friendly faces stitching and chatting together ... here are the Queanbeyan ladies!

Work colleagues were joined by a good friend all the way from New Zealand for the stitching day!

Three sisters stitching ....

Some of the Batemans Bay ladies stitching up a storm!

Prizes for the furthest travellers went to Consie and Kerstin from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA who joined us for the first time ...  amazingly their visit to Australia included the Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge Climb, Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef, cuddling a Koala .... and stitching with us a "Stitching on the Lake"!!!   Perhaps this could take off as a "tourist must do"!!

Audrey painting her little jug of flowers ....

Sylvia and I taking a break from teaching ...

And the ladies in full stitching swing towards the end of the day ... it was great fun and lovely to share a  creative day with you all ... looking forward to this Saturday !!

And when I got home on Saturday evening from Canberra .... I had mail!!!  In the form of another cute little chocolate labrador called "frankie" ....  she is named after David's late father Frank, and has the same twinkle in her eye ... I'm in love already!!   Trust me .... more photos will follow!!

Pincushion

I did manage to finish my pincushion for the Stitch A Long group before the end of March, but with the house full of visitors I have only got to downloading photos from my camera this evening ... here is my pincushion from Anni Downs book "Some Kind of Wonderful" .... with a little variation ... I added a button centre .... and used a patterned fabric rather than pieced squares ....

We have enjoyed browsing through some more wedding photos over the weekend and I just loved this photo of one of the bouquets ....

Beautiful sunrise over Easter ....

This tiny tiny quilt with lots and lots of hexagons was completed by one of the Queanbeyan ladies who came to visit a few weeks ago ....

And this is Jenny's colourful quilt which she recently finished ....  it's back to work tomorrow after the Easter break and the past week off work ..... thank you again to everyone for your kind messages and prayers for our family .... they were very much appreciated  xxxx
