Melbourne Craft Fair and sewing days .....

Last week Sylvia and I enjoyed a couple of days in Melbourne in stitching heaven!!   We had a great time at the Melbourne Craft Fair and caught up with a few blogging friends which was great to put faces to names finally !!

We also caught up with Rose who we met on the cruise earlier this year and she has been a major part of this gorgeous quilt to raise funds for the Caroline Chisholm Foundation.   It is absolutely amazing!

A bit of a close up of the beautiful work and quilting on this amazing masterpiece !

And we explored the beautiful l'uccello in Swanston Street which has such an incredible array of beautiful sewing pieces!   Just a couple of small purchases there !!

Inside this gorgeous treasure trove !

And some of the amazing tea cosies at the Craft Fair !   The next day we spent at "Friends in Stitches" ... photos to come !!

Needlework Ladies

It was nice to be back at Needlework this week after a couple of weeks break for the school holidays ... and the ladies did not disappoint with some lovely finishes ....  Jennifer has finished off this fabulously bright version of "Chelsea Bloom" quilt for a friend's special birthday ....

And she has also made a couple of gorgeous cushions to go with it !

Love the bright colours and the simple daisy design !

Pauline was tatting and had made this beautiful cross ...

Lynn had finished off a Christmas cushion from a little while ago ...

Shirley had finished off her Christmas bunting ...

And Jenni had completed her lovely pincushion and thread keeper ....

A close up of Jenni's pincushion .... all lovely work ... well done ladies !

Christmas Bird Cushion and Sunrise

I have been quietly putting together my projects and notes for our "Stitching in the Hills" Retreat at the beginning of August and they are SECRET !!   So I can't share with you just yet !!   But here is a little cushion I have made which we are doing this week at Needlework ....  I love the very naive painted button I found in my stash to add to this one !

And a spectacular sunrise here on the south coast .....

We did fit in some training for UK on the weekend and ended up down the coast with a spectacular view for lunch !

And my walking buddy !

Lots of cute wildlife along the way ... this little wallaby was very curious as to what we were doing in her territory ...

And the view coming back down the hill ... can you see the beautiful coastline in the distance ?  18.5km total distance covered .... a good training session !!

Mrs Beasley's Sampler Quilt

I have actually been stitching but I have been working on "secret" projects for our "Stitching in the Hills" Retreat weekend at the beginning of August so I can't share them with you just yet ..... however I have received some lovely fabrics from Sandy at Cookies & Cream Craft to make a start on the beautiful Mrs Beasley's Sampler Quilt out of the new Vignette magazine ....  love all the gorgeous Cosmo threads I received too .....

I always love the look of combining patchwork with embroidery so am looking forward to starting this!

The Tilda fabrics are just gorgeous !

It's always nice receiving a lovely package of fabrics and threads in the mail .... and a lovely note from Sandy !

I know lots of ladies who were eagerly anticipating the arrival of the latest issue of Vignette (Issue 10) and again it has not disappointed with all the beautiful projects in it !

Lots ave asked where we stayed last weekend ...  here is a card with the main house on the right and the little church house we stayed in on the left ....

Beautiful flowers and exquisite china greeted us for afternoon tea on our arrival !

And another beautiful cookbook (a girl can never have too many cookbooks) arrived in the post .... this is incredible ... I can hardly wait to choose what to make this weekend .....    I hope you are having an enjoyable weekend .... wherever you are ..... now I need to get back to the Retreat projects ........ enjoy your stitching !!

Another Weekend Away ....

I was very surprised for my birthday in May when my children presented me with a lovely gift voucher for a 2 night stay at Bellawongarah B & B at Berry on the NSW South Coast .... and we decided this weekend was the weekend to go ....   so here is our beautiful accommodation for the weekend ... a little old church ....  beautifully decorated and very warm and welcoming in the rainy weather ....

The gardens were just divine ....

Lots of lovely rustic old fences along our 18km walk on Saturday (good training for our walk across England in September) ....

Absolutely amazing flowers and lush growth .... including these bright coloured toadstools/mushrooms/fungi (of some description) ...

There was lovely coffee and tahitian lime slice at the cafe at the outlook .... the half way point for our walk ... and just as well we had to walk 9km back to walk it off !!

And last week we farewelled our youngest as she headed to far north Queensland to live with the man of her dreams .....  such a long way but no doubt a visit will have to happen soon ... I miss her already!
