Gail Pan

I am very lucky to count the lovely Gail Pan amongst my friends and I'm more than happy to share her beautiful new book with you .... "patchwork loves embroidery" ....

There are some simply gorgeous projects in this book including this cute little bag (on my list of projects to complete) ...

And this equally gorgeous pincushion (just because you can never have too many bags or pincushions) ....

Gail also has a gorgeous new range of fabrics out and I see that it is now in stock in some of the shops ....  Gail has sent me a little to "play" with .... so I'm going to have lots of fun with these beautiful beautiful fabrics and this inspiring new book !!    Thanks Gail .... I love them !!

Knitting & Crochet

The Needlework ladies have been busy knitting and crocheting amongst other things ....  Osla has made a few knitted and crocheted beanies .... all gorgeous colours and going to a very good home ....

Maureen has knitted a striking blanket and Osla helped her out with the crochet edging ... it looks fabulous !

The edging looks great too !

Shirley finished off her zippered bag and made her thimble holder into a hanging decoration !  Great work Shirley !!

I spied this lovely bag on Noelene's table which she had bought at a stall in Bodalla ... one of the clever Bodalla ladies has made this gorgeous bag using different fabrics with a little bit of embroidery ... such a lovely idea !

Embroidered Bag

This is for the ladies at Needlework ... this is the bag we will be working on tonight and tomorrow at Needlework .... the flat version is the one we taught in Canberra recently at "Stitching on the Lake" and the round "dilly" bag with the drawstring top is one which Jenny made with the same pattern ... so you can make either !

Remember to bring your felt, fabrics, Vliesofix and black background fabric together with your threads!    And remember that we are on "school holidays" for the next two weeks and Needlework will resume on Tuesday 15th July and Wednesday 16th July !!

New Look Blog

After having a little bit of an issue with the background of my blog this past week I have decided to have a change (it's as good as holiday .... nearly) so here it is .... I hope you like it .... I have a few additions to make because I lost a bit in the translation but I will gradually add to it .... let me know what you think !!

Chelsea and Kye are here for a couple of days before heading back home so we are enjoying their company and having a great catch up with them !

Needlework Ladies

We have had some lovely finishes at Needlework this past week .... Sue has made this very effective quilt using different floral fabrics ....

Jenny finished her embroidered purse from the Stitching on the Lake day ...

She also finished off her sewing tools bag ....

And these cute little turtle pincushions ....

Sue's stitching ladies made her a very very special quilt for her recent 60th birthday .... it is just lovely and a gorgeous memory quilt with all her group stitching their names onto the quilt !

Sue has also finished this amazing quilt .... with three dimensional flowers .... absolutely gorgeous and so very effective .... that's Sue on the left of the photo !

Although this is behind glass in a recessed box, Pauline's stump work is just beautiful and this little trio of designs is so very special !

I have been stitching and working on finishing off my projects for our "Stitching in the Hills" Retreat weekend outside Canberra at the beginning of August .... so I can't show anything at the moment .... but hopefully soon !!

stitching@bodalla today

What a lovely relaxing day we had today in Bodalla with the embroidery ladies who attended stitching@bodalla .... we worked on the projects we had worked on at "Stitching on the Lake" in Canberra in May and it was a lovely day ....  here are all the ladies busy at work on their stitching ....

Earlier this year the ladies had done a class with Bernie and made these gorgeous needle cases .... lots of different show and tell to be seen here ....

It was also lovely to see some of the finished projects from last years stitching day ....

The top of our stitching scrap bag from last years class ....

Lots of lovely "red" bits and pieces to share ....

Ros has made Anni Downs "Sewing Angel" in gorgeous French General red fabrics and it looks great ....

A look inside reveals lots more lovely red fabrics too ...

Beris has made this gorgeous needle case in a shade of orange .... particularly took my fancy !!

We had a great day, beautifully catered for by Lynne once again (a big thank you for such a yummy morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea) and I'm looking forward to seeing you all again next year !!

stitching@bodalla

I have been away in Melbourne this weekend catching up with friends, watching the AFL at the MCG on Friday night and enjoying a fabulous lunch and dinner yesterday before heading home this morning.   All a bit rushed but lovely to catch up with them!     I will be stitching@bodalla this weekend with a group of ladies and I promised to share the photos of the projects we will be doing .... a little canvas work thimble pip ....

A handy little pocket for your pens and pencils (or crochet hooks) ....

A village houses sewing pouch ....

An embroidered purse ....

A cross stitch bookmark (which can also be made into a needle roll) ....

And an evening bag appliquéd with felt and fabrics ....

You will need to look at your initial list of requirements to see what you need to bring and I'm really looking forward to catching up with all the ladies on Saturday morning ....

Needlework Ladies

Such a variety of projects being worked on at Needlework at the moment ..... Kereen has crocheted this gorgeous fish knee rug .... whilst on a cruise .... so a very appropriate project to work on ....

A close up view of the design ... it looks great and such wonderful colours too !

Quite a few years ago our Needlework ladies knitted lots of penguin jumpers for baby penguins suffering as a result of oil slicks etc ... and the call is out again from the Phillip Island penguin community so Pauline is knitting some little penguin jumpers .... very cute ....

Jenny has made a couple of lovely cushions .... this chenille design is very effective ...

And she has used Lynette Andersons new Quilters Garden fabric range of houses to appliqué on this panel for another cushion ...

Betty started this project when she was 17 and she is now 83 so I think this might almost take the record for the longest UFO (unfinished object) or PHD (project half done) .... It is a gorgeous table cloth with these ladies and gardens in each corner ... amazing work and still going strong and looking fantastic after 66 years !

We made these little scissor fobs a few years ago and Margaret has attached the most gorgeous pair of scissors with a red and white design on them ...

And such a lovely display of flowers greeting us this morning in the hall .... locally grown Proteas in various stages of bloom ... simply stunning ....

Long Weekend Monday Stitching

It has been pretty busy here lately with our grandson and his mum and dad staying with us for a few weeks until their house is ready to move into (just around the corner which is lovely)!!  Not lots of stitching to share because some of it is "secret" for our "Stitching in the Hills" Retreat just outside of Canberra from the 1st to the 3rd August.    There are some spots still available if you would like to come and spend a few days of blissful stitching in the mountains,  please email me if you are interested.    I did spend a little time this afternoon sewing together a few little pieces - one of them is this canvas work strawberry scissor keeper .... heading off to a friend for a gift ....

I also received a lovely package in the mail from Teresa for our Friends in Stitching "Kitchen Swap" .... I had divulged my kitchen colours were black and white with a dash of red and I received two lovely kitchen towels, one stitched with a gorgeous Bronwyn Hayes stitchery, a potholder,  and some kitchen measuring spoons .... how did she know I had lost my other measuring spoons??

Gorgeous stitchery on one of the towels and lovely tea pot fabric !

This pot holder will come in very useful too ... thanks so much Teresa !

And one of my lovely Needlework ladies - Osla - has crocheted a gorgeous blanket for the treasured little man in our house .... and he loves it .... here is Jed wrapped in his blanket .... thank you Osla !

He is now 3 1/2 months old and such a delight to have with us at the moment ... I think it will be hard when they move out in a few weeks .... even though they will only be in the next street !!
