2014 .... what a busy year its been !!

As 2014 draws to a close, I have just been browsing back through my year in photos and can't believe how we fitted everything into the past 365 days !!   I hope your year has been amazing and I particularly want to thank those of you who have commented, started following my blog, or made yourselves known to me at Craft Fairs, AQC, on the Needlework Cruise or even walking along in a shopping centre in Sydney .... it has been lovely to "meet" you all either in person or via my blog ....   Most of January was spent organising kits and patterns for the Needlework Cruise which I taught on in February ... this was one of my projects ....

February saw me away for 2 weeks on the cruise around New Zealand, meeting lots of ladies and having lots of fun teaching .... this Australian Wildflower Garden was another of my projects on the Cruise ....

The day I returned from the cruise was very special as our first grandchild had been born late the night before in Sydney ....  here is Jed on the beautiful quilt made by my Needlework ladies ....

And the amazing group of ladies who put the quilt together while I was away on the Cruise ....

April saw me down at the Australasian Quilt Convention in Melbourne and helping out Jane McDonald on the Be Be Bold stand ... it was a gorgeous convention and I loved meeting lots of ladies there ....

In May it was my birthday and David and I headed off for a break in Bali ... always so beautiful and relaxing ...

And we also celebrated 10 years of Stitching Days in Canberra and at the Coast  ... here are some of the ladies who had been at our first Stitching Day  10 years ago ..... cutting the cake !

June saw me back doing some creative canvas work ... another scissor fob ....

Here is Jed in June wrapped up snug as a bug in a rug in a gorgeous crochet rug made by Osla ...

July saw lovely mid winter sunny days and long walks along the beach ...

July also saw this little baby purring away on some projects ...

August was great and we headed off  to New York to visit our son Sam and his beautiful Nadia who have moved to New York for work for 2 years ...  but before we left, Sylvia and I held our annual "Stitching in the Hills" Retreat ....

Catching the ferry back to Manhattan in August ...

September and we were still away .... and I was enjoying posting blog posts on my new iPad ... orange cover of course !!

We also stopped off in Hawaii on the way home to relax ...

October was busy and as we always do, our Needlwork Group raised funds by holding Pink Supper and Pink Morning Tea In for breast cancer research ....

November ... and we held our Stitching on the Lake Christmas Day in Canberra ... this is before all the ladies arrived ....

And again we made lots of projects, had lots of fun, ate well and enjoyed a little shop courtesy of the Hobbysew Belconnen ladies too !!

December saw Kye return from an overseas posting and he and Chelsea announced their engagement  ..  much excitement !!

And December also bought us to Christmas with the family ... a treasured time and much joy this year as we celebrated with little Jed who is now 10 months old .... and didn't we have fun !!   This year we were joined by my sister and her husband and two of their three children ....

And so from my family to yours .... I do hope 2015 is a wonderful year for you ... I hope you find creative times ahead ... I hope you find peace and relaxation ... and I hope you are able to share the good times with family and friends .... Happy New Year to you all !!

Christmas Decorations

I am very blessed to be a part of the online Friends in Stitching Group and although I haven't met all the ladies in person, we have a gorgeous friendship through our love of stitching !!   We have a Christmas swap each year and today being the 20th of December is the first day to open our first gift!  These are the gifts I received .... but I'm only allowed to open one a day ....

And the first gift is a gorgeous Rosalie Quinlan stitchery to complete ... I will love stitching this !!   Thanks Roseanne (Razzy) who is my partner this year !!

And I'm enjoying sitting here reminiscing about the origin of some of the Christmas decorations on our tree ....  I received this gorgeous Anni Downs tree bauble today made by Sylvia ... it is so lovely !!

I love this Hawaiian glass bauble which we bought a couple of years ago in Hawaii !!

This is one of my all time favourites .... simple .... peace ....

Another cute little stitchery bag hanger .... I might even find a little something in here on Christmas morning ...

And for a family of surfers this surfing Santa was a had to have purchase in Hawaii also !!
It hangs  on top of a Yellowstone Park glass bauble purchased earlier this year on our trip to the States !

We will be missing Sam and Nadia this Christmas as they are working in New York for a couple of years, but it was lovely to receive a big package from them the other day ... the presents are put away, but we were allowed to open the gorgeous card all the way from New York !!  We love it !!  It has pride of place beside our Christmas Angel ....

Sewing Bag

I have been stitching .... but lots of it has been secret stitching for gifts !!!  Now that Helen has had her birthday, I can share the gift I made for her with our Friends in Stitching group .... the brief was that it had to be a black and white bag of some description .... with a gift inside .....  So I stitched a Rosalie Quinlan design in black .....

Then added some black and white fabrics, and a fancy button and a zipper, bagged the corners and made a useful stitching bag .....   inside were some chocolates and a little black and white box and a scissor fob !  Happy Birthday Helen !!

I'm gradually ticking off the Christmas list of things to do .... write Christmas cards (tick) and compose a quick letter (tick) and make a collage of photos of the family to include (tick) .....

Back to stitching now and packing up a box of Australian goodies to send off to Sam and Nadia in New York .... where it is very chilly and has been snowing a little too !!    Happy Christmas preparations to you all !!
