Shepherds Bush Christmas Stocking

I have really enjoyed stitching this latest Shepherds Bush Christmas Stocking ("Richard") and  I decided, after Davey suggested it, that it would be for me !

And so it became "BIC BIC's" stocking ....   he said we both needed one .....

So ..... I finished the stitching, added the charms, added the name and put it beside the one I made for him to see how they looked .... a great pair I think !!

My grandchildren call me BIC BIC and they call David DAVEY .... my nickname from my dad when I was little was "BICKY" (because apparently the first word I said was "Bicky" and "Chocolate") and it has stuck .... he still calls me BICKY and Jed's version of that became BIC BIC .... so I guess that has stuck forever now.     My mum is Cookie to her grandchildren (as in Cookie Monster) so I'm think BIC BIC is quite OK with me !!

I love the finished version .... lined with a nice maroon Christmas print and bound with the same fabric .... now on to the next one .... with 4 children, 4 wives & husbands to each of those children, and 3 grandchildren (so far) I think I better get cracking if they are all to have one for Christmas 2018 !!

Lego, Frangipanis and Stitching

First week back at work has been a bit hard to handle, but Wednesday was made very special with my two little grandsons at home with me .... Here is Jed with the Lego rescue helicopter which we spent 3 hours building on Wednesday .... he was pretty pleased with our efforts !!

Friday morning bought a beautiful cluster of frangipani flowers in the pot outside my front door !  These are my favourites !

Elliott was sent back to Sydney with some home grown passionfruit last weekend, so he has sent us this picture of Jonah enjoying the passionfruit in yoghurt ... and everywhere else too !!

We enjoyed a beautiful breakfast this morning at Tallwood .... a great restaurant north of where we live .... my granola, yoghurt, berries and sliced apple was delicious !!

And I have now finished the stitching on my second Shepherds Bush Christmas Stocking.  This one is titled "Richard" but I have made it for ..........  you will have to wait and see my next post !!   I have just to add the charms and buttons and the name ... then sew it together ....

I was very fortunate during this week to be gifted this beautiful old Singer sewing machine which now sits on top of my grandmothers Singer sewing machine ... it was owned by someone very special and her husband kindly gifted it to me .... I feel very blessed .... thank you ! xxx

Stitching Progress

I had hoped to complete this next Shepherds Bush Christmas Stocking before heading back to work tomorrow, but the weather has been so lovely, I have been distracted by the beach and family and a bit of other stitching ....  however good progress has been made and I'm already planning the next one !!

I was surprised to see this orchid blossom this morning in our spare bathroom .... needless to say I don't go in there very often so it was a pleasant surprise !!

I had completed stitching this Sue Hawkins canvas work piece which I have already stitched once before, and it just needed putting together so I have also managed to finish that in the last couple of days ....

And here is a gorgeous photo of Andrea, Elliott and Jonah that they sent today .... we are going to miss all these little grandchildren running around ..... it will be a very quiet week here ..... and so that sees the end of these Christmas/New Year holidays ... it has been lots of fun, but sadly we head back to work tomorrow .....

Sunny Days

We have had some beautiful beach weather here on the south coast .... so nice to enjoy our holidays at the beach before heading back to work this week.

Here are Sam, Jonah and Elliott in Sydney last week .... walking the beautiful walk from Manly to Shelley Beach !

Jed and Clay spent a late afternoon looking for crabs and playing in the beach pools at the beach the other day and Tim took some of these great shots....

Being dragged around in the shallows is such fun !

Ash must have taken this one with Tim pulling the kids around in the shallows ....

And as the sun went down and the frisbee was in mid flight ....

Today was another glorious day enjoy the water which is such a beautiful temperature at the moment !!

Just back from the beach yesterday and Elliott snapped this shot of David and I on his new phone !

Headstands on the paddle board are always a challenge .... Elliott !!

Looking forward to our last day of holidays tomorrow before going back to work on Tuesday ....

And I did make a little decoration for my nephew Drew who has missed having one made ....

Making Progress

I don't think I have posted a photo of the lovely Christmas Cushion which I received from Sylvia .... it is very cute and Sylvia has adapted it from an Anni Downs pattern .... I have loved having it on display this Christmas ....

I am making some good holiday progress on my Shepherds Bush Christmas Stocking ...

Jed and Clay had fun doing the Birthday List draw for this coming year ... all the names went into a bowl and they each picked out names to correspond with who buys for who in the family .... they thought it was great fun !

Some summer splashes of colour in my garden yesterday  ... frangipanis are my favourite ....

New Blog Layout

I have decided the New Year should bring some new changes .... so I decided to change the look of my blog ....  it was not without its problems and I seem to have lost a lot of content ... but I will get there eventually and I think it has a nice feel of summer about it ..... what do you think ????

And now its 2018 !!

Some more holiday snaps .... New Years Eve was a little quiet with little boys in the house ... we enjoyed dinner and then as it became darker we had some sparklers on the front lawn ... here are Ash and Tim and Jed and Clay .... Jed was very excited about the sparklers !!

There were train games .... in my lovely cane tray I might add !!!   Jonah and Clay had a great time !

Elliott and Andrea and Jonah enjoying sparkler fun on the lawn ....

New Years Day was a bit cloudy but the little boys all donned their wetsuits and headed out for a "cousin surf" before Elliott, Andrea and Jonah headed back to Sydney ....

Little waves were perfect for the little boys .... and the dads had a great time too !

A quick photo after the swim and Clay had fallen asleep ... exhausted from too much partying over Christmas I think !

After they left, David and I headed down to the beach to relax and read (not something you get to do with little boys running around) ..... loving my new "klean kanteen" which is like a very modern thermos and keeps your drink and ice cool at the beach or your warm drink warm when its cold !

And my wish for 2018 has come to fruition so far .... I was hoping that 2018 would bring sunshine and beach days, sand between my toes, smiles on my face and fun family times .... and I have had exactly that ....  with one more week till we go back to work, I am also enjoying a little bit of quiet stitching on my next Christmas Stocking ....  very relaxing !!

I hope you are all enjoying your holidays wherever you are and whatever you may be doing ....

More of Christmas

Christmas Day was an early start for us all with little ones in the house ....  we went around to Ash and Tims to share gifts with the little boys all together which was great fun !   Even Santa paid a visit in the local Rural Fire Service truck .... much to the delight of the little ones !

After lunch the little boys enjoyed the gingerbread house ....

It was so yummy .... Jonah carefully deciding which colour smartie he would like !!

And finally a view from above as it was broken into pieces and consumed by us all ....

That evening after the kids all went home, Jonah was just sitting beside the Christmas tree and reading a book to himself ... such a little cutie ....

He did enjoy the swing and teepee which we bought him for Christmas !   He is so much like his dad at the same age .... they are like peas in a pod !!

He loved playing with our door bell with Uncle Sam !

And enjoyed the beach with mum and dad ...

We have had some picture perfect days .... ideal for relaxing swims and building castles with the kids ....

The teepee became the favourite reading room and we have thoroughly enjoyed our time with our little grandsons all together ....

I even decided to start a new Christmas stocking which is the latest Shepherds Bush Christmas Stocking creation .... this one will be for one of our children .... I think its time they had their own heirloom stocking each .... then there are their wives and husbands .....  stitching, stitching forever I will be I think !!
